Purpose, issues, and objectives
The aim of the journal is to promote and advance interdisciplinary research in the humanities and religious studies, to interpret religious phenomena within the contexts of culture, history, philosophy, socio-political processes, and contemporary challenges, as well as to foster an academic space for professional scholarly discussion.
The primary objectives of the academic journal Sophia. Humanities and Religious Studies Bulletin include the publication of research findings through the dissemination of original scholarly articles in religious studies, its disciplinary subfields, and their intersections with philosophy, theology, cultural studies, and other related humanities disciplines. The journal is oriented toward the development of interdisciplinary dialogue, combining diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to the analysis of religious and spiritual phenomena, particularly in the context of contemporary social transformations. A key task of the publication is the examination of current religious processes, including the study of religion’s role in the public sphere, socio-political life, the formation of national identity, interfaith relations, as well as issues of security and social cohesion. The journal facilitates scholarly communication by providing a professional platform for the exchange of academic ideas between Ukrainian and international researchers, organizing peer review, and fostering constructive academic debate.
Another important objective is the support of early-career scholars, particularly doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, by encouraging the publication of results from their dissertation research in accordance with established academic standards. The journal is also committed to upholding academic and ethical standards, ensuring adherence to the principles of research integrity, critical thinking, and objectivity in the study of religious and humanitarian issues.
